Gynecomastia is the development of the mammary gland in men. There may be many causes, but in most cases the development is idiopathic, that is, without any apparent cause.
Gynecomastia can cause significant psychological discomfort (notably difficulty going bare-chested). Surgical intervention can restore confidence and well-being.
Gynecomastia is reduced by liposuction without leaving a visible scar. It can be associated with direct excision of the gland through the lower edge of the areola.
